The owners strongly believe in taking on a “hands-on” approach to groom & train the staff so that the high standards are always achieved.
Meet the Owners
Welcome to Hans and Harry’s Bakery, where every bite tells a story! Established in 1991, our bakery is a labor of love, born from a passion for baking and a commitment to quality. We believe that baked goods should be more than just food; they should be a delightful experience that brings people together.
Originally owned and operated by two Dutch bakers, Hans Zandee and Harry Eijsermans, Hans and Harry’s has a rich history. Hans retired in July 2015, followed by Harry in December 2023.
In July 2015, Sumi Campbell joined as co-owner. After relocating from Singapore to Hyde Park, NY, she earned her degree in Baking & Pastry from The Culinary Institute of America. Sumi previously owned and operated Sumi’s Oven in Carmel Mountain from 2008 to 2015 and was the Head Cake Decorator at Hans and Harry’s from 2006 to 2009. In January 2024, Sumi became the President of Hans and Harry’s Bakery.
In January 2020, Sumi’s husband, Alex Campbell, began helping at the bakery. Following Harry’s retirement, he stepped in as Vice President, bringing his accounting background and over 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry to the team.
Our dedicated staff is made up of individuals with formal training and years of baking experience, all committed to delivering products and services that exceed our customers’ expectations. At Hans and Harry’s Bakery, we pride ourselves on using only the finest ingredients. Sumi and her team work diligently to craft everything from breakfast pastries to decadent cakes, blending cherished traditions with innovative recipes and seasonal offerings.
We aim to create a sense of nostalgia in the Bonita community. More than just a place to grab a pastry, we have become a household name and a cherished tradition for many families and friends. Our warm and welcoming atmosphere invites everyone to feel at home.
With the expansion in November 2022, we continue to grow but we remain dedicated to our core values of quality, sustainability, and community. Thank you for being a part of our journey. We can’t wait to share our passion for baking with you!
